character

i'm watching the view right now, mainly because kenny chesney is going to be on and he's oh so yummy. however, they are discussing whether or not the character of sports is going down hill, which for the most part it appears to be. look at michael vick, the patriots scandal, the nba ref issue, etc those are not good examples. however, there are so many good ones out there. for some reason we don't hear about that. i think a lot of it is because the good ones are the girls and for some reason we don't want to think of girls as athletes. look and the williams sisters, the usa womens soccer team from 1998 and now. there are so many good athletes out there. i would love for audrey to want pictures of mia hamm or abby wambach all over her walls. there is nothing wrong with the girls being role models. why do we always have to hear about britney spears and paris hilton? why not put the athletes in the spotlight or even girls like miley cyrus? oh yeah, because they are good and for some reason we don't like to hear about the good ones. their story doesn't sell. it's time for groups like espn and sports illustrated to put a focus on these athletes. yes there are also lots of good male athletes. warrick dunn does everything he can to help single moms in his area buy new houses. shawn marbury(despite his ability to put his foot in his mouth every other day) produced a whole line of shoes and clothes for young kids that are all $14.95-$19.95. the same shoes he wears on the court. there is no difference between them and the $150 shoes. i know that kids should look up to people in their family and i wish that could be true for all kids, but it's not reality. so many kids don't have someone at home they should look up to so they turn to athletes and entertainers. we need to spend more time on the good ones and get the bad ones out of the spotlight.

weekend recap

college football kicked off with major bang this season. the big house was stunned to silence. yes, 100,000+++ people silent. michigan was beat by former d-2a appalachian state at home. this was supposed to be a win, not even a maybe win, but a win by many many touchdowns. any hope michigan had of making it to the championship game were gone in week 1. that isn't supposed to happen. that's why schools schedule games like these for week 1. #5 should no longer even be in the top 25.

my tigers pulled off a win. got a little worried for a bit. we seemed to be tackling much like the chiefs were on thursday, not tackling at all. nice way to start the season. we didn't even play a cupcake team. the illini put up a good fight.

in bowden bowl 9 tonight the tigers walked away with another win. only this time it was clemson, not missouri. i don't care which tiger team it is, as long as florida state is on the losing end. i'm not a fan of florida schools. tired of them always being on top, although things have recently turned around. the gators are the only winning florida team.

the royals won tonight. 8-1 over the rangers. i bet the rangers are wishing they had a few of those 30 runs from a few games ago back tonight. glad to see the royals on the winning end. 2 games in a row we have won. i do have to say friday night i was cheering against them though. only because i would have loved to see a perfect game. twins pitcher scott baker had a perfect game going into the 9th inning when he walked john buck to end the perfect game and then gave up a hit to sweeney to lose the no hitter. not to bad for a new daddy. his son easton was born on the 24th was 5 weeks early and i'm sure daddy's mind was having a hard time thinking of the game. still a 1 hitter is nothing to be upset about.

now this week i have the nfl to look forward to also. ahh football heaven. nfl season opener on thursday, college football friday night, all day saturday and nfl all day sunday. what more could a girl ask for???
